Our
new book:
"Improving Business Process Performance: Gain Agility, Create Value, and
Achieve Success" has been published on June 9th, 2011. The managerial practices that drove industry for
decades have become increasingly insufficient to support the
increasing rate of change. Without adequate quantitative
understanding of the progress made to achieve organizational
goals, corporations quickly lose their competitive edge. They
are constantly challenged to reshape their operations, improve
performance, and adapt swiftly to new markets and opportunities.
Yet with new methodologies and frameworks such as BPM, BPI, Six
Sigma, Lean, and the like, many question where to begin. This
text surveys and integrates quantitative approaches that have
become very popular in recent years. It presents practical
methodology that allows organizations to build a measurements
framework with the ability to not just monitor the events but to
continuously improve and refine them by providing a feedback
loop for analysis, goal, and strategy adjustments. This
measurement framework is linked to an organization’s overall
strategy—and quantitative achievement information is fed back to
that strategy.

Our book
Software Process Improvement with CMM was initially
published in English and re-published in Chinese and Japanese.
Here's a practical, step-by-step approach for improving your
organization's software development process, using the Software Engineering
Institute's Capability Maturity Model (CMM). The book gives software project
managers and administrators a real-world understanding of software process
improvement and how it can be implemented in each stage of the software
development lifecycle. The book emphasizes software process definition, the
effective use of software metrics, and common sense software project management
along with CMM specifics. This integrated approach will help professionals
achieve continuous software process improvement with CMM as the working
guideline. The book explains common misconceptions associated with Software
Process Improvement and CMM, and uses many real-world examples taken from the
author's experience in helping business and government organizations define and
improve the software development and management process. It includes a detailed
case study, over 50 illustrations and tables, and a reference table of key
software metrics."This work is addressed to project managers and management looking to get a practical understanding of process improvement using the CMM. The CMM is an earlier version (now sunset) of CMMI, but the book’s focus on implementing CMMI processes across the phases of a project life cycle is very well done and thorough, and the advice still remains true for CMMI. So it’s still worth a look." O'Reilly Safari Books |
